It's been a while since I posted here. Like I said before, the worst has passed, so I did not feel the need to vent the stress into the void as much this last week. My dad is finally home from the hospital, and while we still have to do a lot of caring and keeping him and the dogs separated (so they wont tear into his colostomy bag), it has been pretty peaceful.
Alo, this week I'm once again unemployed, and back to studying for public service tests.
I decided to start on direito previdenciário (social security law? something like that), something I never payed much attention to. And, I'm enjoying it a lot. Got through an eigth of the textbook in two days, might finish it in another week or so. The fact that I will be needing to learn how to collect my father's benefits while he is unable to work made me even more interested in the discipline, and I'm even enjoying the book? It's a regular textbook, the most up-to-date I could find in the local college's library, but its all flowing really well.
I'm enjoying it so much, in fact, it made me think about focusing my career choices of civil servant roles on social security related positions (that felt janky to write, but I have no idea how to translate the nuances of brazillian public service to english, lol). But then, I felt the same while studying tax law last year - got all excited and tried for tax related positions, only to then realize I have no experience in tax law, so I have no idea if I would like to work with it.
So, maybe its that I just am a huge nerd and like reading and learning about law (especially when sitting in a quiet library with the aircon all day, without any worries other than studying).
Tragic if true.
